Summary of Rules |
|
Quarterback 1. The Quarterback has six seconds to throw the ball. 2. Shovel passes are permitted. 3. The quarterback can not run beyond the line of scrimmage.
Receivers 1. All players are eligible pass receivers, including the center. 2. Slant patterns are permitted. 3. A catch by any kneeling or prone inbounds player is a completion or interception. 4. A legal catch requires pass receiver to have one foot in-bounds. 5. Initial bump-n-run on the line of scrimmage only. 6. If the receiver’s flag is not pulled or if he is not touched, he can advance the ball.
Football Moves 1. Hurdling is not allowed. 2. Spinning to evade is allowed. 3. Diving is not allowed. 4. Stiff arming is not allowed.
Blocking 1. Offensive blocking may only be done with open hands. 2. No blocking or setting picks down field. 3. Blocking the back is not permitted.
Defensive Backs 1. Initial bump-n-run on the line of scrimmage only. 2. Interceptions may be advanced. 3. The defense is not allowed to strip the ball after the receiver catches the ball.
Defensive Line 1. Rusher(s) must be five yards off the ball. 2. Rusher(s) advance on the snap. 3. Rusher(s) may not make contact above the shoulders or below the waist. 4. Pushing or throwing is not allowed. The rusher is permitted to make contact with extended hands.
Scoring 1. Touchdowns are 6 points; You may attempt 1 or 2 point conversion 2 point safety. 2. An interception returned for a touchdown during a conversion attempt is two points.
Possession 1. Fumbles beyond the line of scrimmage are dead at the point of fumble; There is no change of possession. 2. If a snap is muffed behind the line of scrimmage, the ball is live.
Kicking 1. There are live punt returns and kickoffs. 2. Punts are free kicks and Kickoffs will be from a tee/or throw.
Sportsmanship 1. There is ZERO tolerance for any unsportsmanlike conduct. This includes trash talk, verbal abuse and striking, pushing or any manner of fighting. Aggressive trash talk or verbal abuse will result in a 5 yard penalty. Pushing will result in a 20 yard penalty and player ejection from the game. Striking another person in any manner will result in a 20 yard penalty, loss of down, and the players permanent ejection from the league. These are minimum penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct. The officials and commissioner reserve the right to enforce further penalties at their discretion.
Field and Game Format 1. This is 5 on 5 passing flag football. 2. Each team is permitted a maximum of 10 players on their roster. Four players are required to play the game. If a team does not have 4 players on the field by the start of the game, that team owes a $50 forfeit fee. The field of play is 30 yards wide and 60 yards in length, with two 10 yard end zones. The total field size is 80 x 30 yards. 3. Possession starts at the 10 yard line. The team has four attempts to make a first down at the 30 yard line. In addition, the team has 4 attempts to make a first down at the 10 yard line. Finally, the team has 3 attempts inside the 10 yard line to score a touchdown. 4. There are two 20 minute running halves, with a regulation clock in the final two minutes of the game if the score is within 14 points. 5. Each team is allowed three 45-second time outs per game.
